Malaysian Darul Quran to Be Upgraded to University College

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Effort is being made to upgrade Darul Quran, a religious institution under Malaysia's Islamic Development Department (Jakim), into a university college, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Jamil Khir Baharom.

He said various initiatives had been made, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia and a degree program with Al-Azhar University in Egypt.

"Although the decision to upgrade it to a university college status has yet to be finalized, efforts are being made towards it,” he told reporters after Darul Quran’s golden jubilee celebration and convocation ceremony.
