TEHRAN (IQNA) – The panel of judges of a Quran competition in the United Arab Emirates announced the winners of the contest.

According to al-khaleej daily, the contest was started in the holy month of Ramadan last year and continued for some time afterward.

It featured answering 84 questions about the Surahs (chapters) and verses of the Holy Quran.

The panel of judges, made up of 15 Quran experts and scholars, assessed the answers in three stages and announced the winners on Sunday.

According to the panel, Asma Sabir Muhammad Badr from Egypt bagged the top prize.

Among the top 10 winners were a Ukrainian national, who came third, and a Russian who came fifth.

Iranian Seyyed Abdul Qader Seyyed Hashemi was ranked 13. 

The winners will receive cash prizes of up to 100,000 Emirati dirhams.

Also, 100 participants will be selected by draw and awarded an Umrah Hajj package each.
