The country’s Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanat) held the contest under the supervision of Ali Akpinar, Mufti of Konya Province, according to Memleket.com website.
The Kapu mosque in Konya hosted the Quranic event on the occasion of the "Week of Mosques and Religious Servants”.
The participants competed in the field of recitation of the Holy Quran.
Hafiz Othman, head of the Department for Supervising Mushafs, affiliated to Diyanet, was a member of the contest’s panel of judges.
The panel announced Suleiman Shimshak and Mustafa Damirji as winners of the first and the second ranks respectively.
Yusuf Durmush and Niazi Atmaja jointly won the third rank.
In Turkey, Diyanet is responsible for supervising Quranic and religious activities.
