TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 35th edition of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s International Quran Competition will be held in April, the organizers announced.

Iran to Hold 35th Int’l Quran Contest in April

The capital city of Tehran will host the international event on April 19-26, 2018.

The Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization annually organizes the competition with the participation of Quran memorizers and reciters from various countries.

Like the 2017 edition, Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla (prayer hall) will most likely host the 2018 Quran contest.

Countries will have until February 4 to introduce their representatives to the organizing committee.

Those who have attended the contest in the past three editions cannot take part in the 2018 edition.

Also banned from participation are Qaris and memorizers who have won one of the top five ranks in the previous editions.

Like in 2017, concurrent with Iran’s 35th International Quran Competition, a number of other international Quran contests, including those for women, the visually-impaired and seminary students, will also be held in Tehran.

Iran will be represented by Seyed Mostafa Hosseini in the category of recitation and Mostafa Esfehanian in memorization, while Hakimeh Nasiri will compete for the Islamic Republic in the competition for women.
