TEHRAN (IQNA) – The performance of Iran’s representative in the Khartoum International Quran Award was received well by both the panel of judges and the audience.

Rasoul Takbiri’s turn to showcase his Quranic talents at the international event was Friday.

He was asked by the panel of judges to recite from memory verses 21-29 of Surah Al Umran, 81-89 of Surah al-Tawba, 34-56 of Surah Shuara, and 2-8 of Surah Hashr.

Mo'taz Aghaei, the Iranian Quran expert who is accompanying Takbiri in the completion as a guide, told IQNA that the Iranian Quran memorizer’s performance was very good and successful.

He said Takbiri’s performance was lauded by the panel of judges and the audience in the competition hall.

Aghaei said he could not guess who the top winner of the contest will be since the level of performances has been very high.

The main round of the 9th edition of Khartoum International Quran Award kicked off in the Sudanese capital on Tuesday.

More than 70 Quran memorizers from 51 countries have gathered in Khartoum to compete for the top prize.

The headquarters of the Quran Society of Sudan in the capital is hosting the international Quranic event.

Winners will be announced at the awarding ceremony on Saturday night.
