According to al-Ain news website, some 400 scholars and religious figures from 50 countries are attending the event, known as Congresso Internacional.
Representatives of the Dar al-Iftas of Lebanon and Jordan, and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) are among the participants.
The theme of this year’s event is “Teaching Arabic Languages in Latin American and Caribbean countries”.
Responsibility of Arab and Muslim minorities on the issue of Quds (Jerusalem) and other Muslim sanctities is also discussed at the conference, which will run until Sunday.
