Addressing an international conference in Jammu and Kashmir on religious diversity in the Muslim world, Hojat-ol-Islam Mokhtari added that Imam Khomeini made Islam the basis of the greatest political and social movement of the time.
He said the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran revived religious thought in two ways: presenting religion as a source of answer to contemporary issues and reviving the religious identity of people.
Leading a delegation, Hojat-ol-Islam Mokhtari arrived in Srinagar on Sunday evening.
He is also scheduled to meet with a number of Indian university chiefs and sign agreements on academic cooperation.
