Hundreds of people have taken to the streets in several cities in Canada to protest against the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and to condemn the Ottawa government’s support for the Tel Aviv regime.

The protests were held in the cities of Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Winnepeg and Vancouver against the Israeli onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip.
In the eastern city of Toronto, demonstrators gathered at the Israeli consulate, holding banners and chanting “free, free Palestine.”
Organizer Hind Awwad said, “We’re here to raise our voices and say Israel must be pressured,” adding that protesters are calling for sanctions against the Tel Aviv regime.
In addition, Awwad said demonstrators reject the “unwavering support” by Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s government for Israel, saying it amounts to complicity in “crimes in the Gaza Strip.”
Another organizer of the anti-Israeli rally, Aidan MacDonald, said the Canadian government’s response to the conflict has been “appalling,” with officials refusing to condemn the deaths of Palestinian civilians.
Similar criticism was heard at a pro-Palestinian protest in the western city of Vancouver, where protesters marched, demanding Tel Aviv to stop its military aggression in Gaza.
“Our government has been pro-Zionist and we want to stand against that,” said protest organizer Dania Kallas.
Israeli warplanes have been carrying out incessant airstrikes against Gaza since July 8. On Thursday, thousands of Israeli soldiers launched a ground invasion into the densely-populated strip as well.
A total of 357 people have been killed by the Israeli regime in its recent war on Gaza and nearly 2,700 have been wounded.
