--Russian officials have said that over 20000 Muslims from Russia will go on a Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, this year, the Dinihaber website reported.
They said that 14000 pilgrims will travel to Saudi Arabia by air while 6000 will make the trip by land.

Saudi Arabia has given Russia a quota for 20,500 pilgrims this year, while Russia has requested an additional quota for 3,000.

There is a high demand for Hajj among Russia's Muslims, who were not allowed to go on Hajj pilgrimage during the Soviet times.

The fastest-growing religious group in Russia is its Muslims. The country's Muslims are estimated at roughly 20 million, making up over 10% of the population.
