-- Compiled by researchers in Dar-ol-Hadith Academic-Cultural Institute, "Imam Hossein (AS) Encyclopedia" was unveiled in Allameh Majlesi Hall of the institute in a ceremony with the presence of Grand Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani, Majlis speaker Ali Larijani, head of the institute Ayatollah Reyshahri, and Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Hashem Hosseini Bushehri.
Speaking at the ceremony, grand Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani referred to the lack of such research studies in seminaries and said, "There is a great need for encyclopedias of Hadiths and more research must be conducted in this field.”
"Imam Hossein's (AS) school is always open to all and welcomes everyone, teaching them the lessons of truth, endurance, and being servant of God; indeed, without entering this school, one cannot obtain the status of humanity," he said.
Another speaker at the ceremony was Ayatollah Mohammadi Reyshahri who pointed to some of the main goals of compiling this encyclopedia. Among them, he said were reviewing Imam Hossein's (AS) life and the event of Ashura, eliminating the existing deviated and baseless stories attributed to the Imam’s (AS) life as well as introducing Imam Hossein's (AS) political, social and ethical lessons to mankind.
"Providing a scientific review of the event of Ashura, investigating the relevant issues in Ashura as well as meeting the researchers' secondary needs are among the main characteristics of this encyclopedia," he stated.
Calling the compilation of such encyclopedias as the most important achievement of Dar-ol-Hadith Academic-Cultural Institute, he referred to the Interpretive Encyclopedia of the Quran and Hadith in 14 volumes, Imam Ali (AS) Encyclopedia in 14 volumes and the Encyclopedia of Islamic Beliefs in 10 volumes as the previous works by the institute.
He also referred to encyclopedia of Hazrat-e Mahdi (may God hasten his glad advent) and encyclopedia of Jurisprudence as works which are to be compiled by the institute’s researchers in near future.
