-- Worcester Islamic Center in Worcester, MA, USA, will hold its annual Quran competition in May.
According to examiner.com, this is an effort to honor the word of Allaah by reading and memorizing while at the same time unifying the Muslim communities in New England by this great worship.
The center has encouraged all Muslims in the area to participate in one of the four different categories.
The categories are: memorization of Surah Al-Anbiya, memorization of Surah An-Najm, memorization of Juzz Amma, and memorization of Half Juzz Amma (from Surah Al-A’ala to Surah An-Nas)
Qualified scholars of Quran and Imams will be the judges who will oversee the competition. They will only judge the students on memorization and Tajweed. Beautiful voice is a plus but not the most important element of the competition.
Registration is underway until May 1 and the contest will be held on Friday, May 7.
