Airlines Fly 31,000 Hajis in 2 Weeks

-- Over 31,000 Hajj pilgrims will be flown from Dubai International Airport to Jeddah and Madinha in Saudi Arabia in a massive two-week joint operation by Emirates Airlines and Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia), officials said.
Both the airlines will fly out from Terminal 1 and 3 of Dubai airport till Nov.12 and start return flight operations from Nov.19, Head of the Hajj Committee at Dubai airport Mohammed Kadim said.

The joint operations from Dubai started last Thursday and so far, till Sunday, 12,000 pilgrims have already departed from Dubai by Emirates and 4,000 by Saudia, he added.

Around 70 per cent of Hajjis are transit passengers who have used Dubai airport as a transit point to Jeddah and Madinha.

The airport has set up 22 dedicated check-in counters for Emirates at Terminal 1’s E-Zone for extra flights operating from this terminal.

All service sectors of the airport, including ambulance, service of doctors, nurses and paramedics equipped with emergency medical gadgets, extra security forces, airport police, check-in officials, wheelchair facilities etc. are arranged at the departure gates, he added.

Kadim said that so far the health conditions of all pilgrims are good and so far they have not faced with any physical problems.

However, while returning, they are coordinating with the Saudi Arabian consulate in Dubai to confirm that the returning pilgrims are in good shape and free of any type of contagious diseases.
