There are 4000 Iranian Shi’ites residing in Romania but they have no mosques, director general of the A’ema At’har (AS) Fiqh Center said.
Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Javad Nurmusavi, who is in Romania to participate in Muharram mourning ceremonies held by the Shi’ites there, told IQNA that Shi’ites in the country have to rent a place to hold the Muharram processions.
He said every year in Muharram, the Ushshaq-ul-Hussein (Imam Hussein Devotees) group in Bucharest, Romania’s capital, hold processions mourning the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS).
“Shia Muslims, men and women, young and old, from different parts of Romania take part in the processions,” he added.
Nurmusavi went on to say the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) revived Islam and that commemorating the events of Karbala promotes religious values among Muslims.
