Ashura Commemoration underway at the Islamic Center of England
Ceremonies to commemorate the historical event of the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad(s)’s grandson, Imam Husayn (as), have started on Saturday the 26th of November.The Center will maintain the state of mourning till the Islamic month of Safar is over.
The English language program organized jointly by the Islamic Center English Section and Ahlul Bayt Islamic Mission are now underway.
Guest speaker for this year is Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Shomali. Sheikh Shomali began the program with an introduction to the concept of mourning from a general perspective identifying the characteristic of a true mourner for Imam Husayn (as).
Sheikh Shomali will continue till the 6th of December and his lecture will look at the Spiritual aspect of the Struggle of Karbala. Lectures titled “Muharram 2011” will be uploaded in the center’s archive section shortly.
