“The Science of Tafsir of Quran” Seminar in Cape Town
"The Science of Tafsir of the Quran" Seminar is going to be held on 28 & 29 April 2012 (Saturday & Sunday) from 9 am to 4 pm at Center for Academic Excellence (Islamia College) auditorium of Cape Town.
Dar al’Ulum al-Arabiyyah al-Islamiyyah ‘Ilm Academy is going to hold the seminar under the support and sponsorship of Cape Town Muslim Events.
Historical development of tafsir (interpretation), types of tafsir and major works, themes of the Quran, tafsir of the story of Hazrat-e Maryam (AS), tafsir and modernism and Translation as tafsir, a comparative assessment of English translations of the Quran, principles of reflection on the Quran, The surah as a thematic unit and tafsir of selected verses of spirituality are among the themes to be discussed in the seminar.
Each topic will be will be explored thoroughly over a weekend (full-day Saturday and Sunday), with prominent scholars using the latest, pedagogical techniques.
The seminar will be presented by six scholars (three on each day) who have conducted specialized research into their sub-topics and are fully committed to the goal of making Islamic knowledge accessible, comprehensible and enjoyable.
