A Series of Quranic Lectures to Be Held in SA

A Series of Quranic Lectures under the theme of “History of the holy Quran: Revelation to Compilation” is planned to be held in Cape Town, South Africa.
Lectures will be held every Tuesdays from 22nd May to 3rd July at Al- Munowar Mosque.
Divine Revelation (wahy), Teaching and Transmission, Recording, Arrangement and Compilation the text of the Quran, The Qirā`āt and Our relationship with the Quran are the main topics that will be reviewed in the lectures.
The need for wahy, how the Prophets received wahy, the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) experiences with wahy, the first revelation, some orientalist theories, how Jibril brought wahy to the Prophet (PBUH), the Prophet’s (PBUH) role regarding the holy Quran, writing the holy Qur’an, learning and teaching the holy Quran, in the Prophet’s (PBUH) life (Makkan Period), in the Prophet’s (PBUH) life (Medinan Period), memorization and writing, arrangement of the chapters, compilation during the Prophet’s (PBUH) life, the role of various companions in the compilation and spreading process, the origin of Qirā`āt, Sab’ah Aḥruf, the criterion for the acceptance of a Qirā`ah, the compilation of Qirā`āt and earliest compilers, history of the holy Quran in South Africa, our responsibility with the Quran, our Quranic education: What should it be? And Bringing the Quran alive in our lives are the subthemes to be discussed during this course.
