The 23rd demise anniversary of Imam Khomeini (RA) was held on June 2 in the holy city of Qom.
According to IQNA’s correspondent, the ceremony which was held on behalf of the Supreme Leader was attended by representatives of Qom in Majlis, grand sources of emulation, as well as the city’s scholars and people.
Grand Ayatollahs Makarem Shirazi, Nouri Hamedani, Alavai Gorgani, Shabiri Zanjani, Ebrahim Amini and Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi Golpayegani, Hojat-ol-Islam Saeedi as well as representatives of Ayatollahs Safi Golpayegani and Vahid Khorasani were present at the event.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ayatollah Seyyed Ahmad Khatami elaborated on Imam Khomeini’s (RA) personality traits, adding that he was so lofty in character that cannot be recognized in full.
“He was truly 'a devoted servant of God’ in the Supreme Leader’s words who kept his promise with Him up to the last moment of his life.”
Referring to the outcomes of Imam Khomeini’s (RA) uprising, he noted: “Rewriting the country’s Constitution based on the Islamic laws, teaching the Ahlul-Bayt’s (AS) Hadiths in various seminaries across the world, as well as the emergence of the Islamic Awakening Tide that has currently dominated the region have been all thanks to the Islamic Revolution.”
Ayatollah Khatami further referred to Imam Khomeini’s (RA) mysticism that, unlike the existing false mystical schools, did not prevent him from living among people as a socio-political leader.
“The very fact that Imam was deeply loved and respected during his life and that people still mourn for him 23 years following his sad demise is witness to his divine and elevated life and character,” he went on to say.
