Turkish Muslims Mark Muharram

Istanbul and other cities of Turkey are hosting a number of mourning ceremonies on the occasion of Muharram month.
According to IQNA’s branch in South Asia, one of the biggest of such ceremonies was held on November 15 at Imam Ali (AS) Mosque in Bağcılar District of Istanbul attended by Hassan Karabuluth, head of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) Association of Turkey and a number of Shia scholars and citizens.
Addressing the program after the evening prayers, Karabulut talked about the importance of the month, Ashura and its status Islam's history.
The program continued with elegies performed by Seyyed Talih Buradigahi, from Azerbaijan.
A similar ceremony was held on the occasion at Zeynabiyyeh Mosque with the participation of Salahuddin Uzgunduz, leader of Turkish Shia Muslims.
It was broadcast live via the website of the mosque.
