Friday prayer leader of Kashmar, Khorasan Razavi province, referred to ceremonies held to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) as signifying that Islam is alive.
Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Ghassem Yaghubi expressed condolences over the coming of the lunar month of Muharram, which marks martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions, and said one of Divine principles is that of Ibtila.
“What Ibtila means is that God puts human beings’ faith and belief in the truth and justice to test by putting them in difficulties and problems. That way, the faithful are differentiated from the hypocrites.”
He underlined that the pivot of this Ibtila and its heart is the event of Ashura, adding that the spilling of the blood of Imam Hussein (AS), which is the blood of God, made Ashura the reviver of God’s religion.”
Hojat-ol-Islam Yaghubi said Imam Hussein (AS) embarked on a struggle on the path of God to defeat and expose the front of falsehood.
He underscored that understanding the truth and defending the truth, even if it needs sacrificing one’s life, are among the signs of Imam Hussein’s (AS) devotees.
The Friday prayer leader of Kashmar also referred to insight as one of the main needs for human beings in life and said the need for insight is one of the major messages of Ashura.
He further said one of the main manifestations of Qurb (closeness) to God is resorting to the school of Imam Hussein (AS) and reviving Ashura, adding that “if we want to thwart the ploys of the enemies, we need to benefit from the teachings of Ashura”.
Hojat-ol-Islam Yaghubi also noted that Ikhlas (purity of intention) and moral behavior are other characteristics of the real followers of Imam Hussein (AS).
He went on to ask mourners of Imam Hussein’s (AS) martyrdom to hold glorious prayers on the day of Ashura (Sunday, November 24).
