Head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) said the book Al-Lohuf will translated into 40 languages.
Mohammad Baqer Khorramshad made the remark in a ceremony on September 18, held to unveil the translation of the book into English, French, Russian and Turkish.
Al-Lohuf is a book by Shia scholar of the Sayyid Ibn Tawous about the life of Imam Hussein (AS) and the event of Ahsura in which Imam Hussein and his companions were martyred in Karbala.
Khorramshad said one of ICRO’s missions is introducing Shia Islam adding that Shi’ism has different symbols such as Qadir, Ashura, supplications, Nahj-ul-Balaqa and Sahifeh Sajjadieh.
He said what is more important than any interpretation of the event of Ashura is understanding it as what happened on that day is so heartrending that has no need for interpretation.
He added that the event of Ahsura itself introduces Shi’ism and that is why all the Infallible Imams (AS) and the late Imam Khomeini (RA) have emphasized so much on Ashura and commemorating Muharram and Safar.
He further said the translation of Al-Lohuf into different languages started 3 years ago and that the ICRO plans to have it translated into 40 languages.
The Al-Huda Publications will publish the Azeri, Hindi, Spanish and Malay translations of the book by December, he noted.
Khorramshad said he witnessed the influence of Al-Lohuf when studied in France and attended mourning ceremonies for martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) in which nothing was read but Al-Lohuf.
He said the ritual of Ashura is spreading in the world and that it can be a real model for all religions and faiths.
The ICRO chief urged the Al-Huda Publications to distribute the translations of Al-Lohuf in different countries based on the languages spoken in each country.
Elsewhere in the ceremony to unveil translations of Al-Lohuf, Maziar Kamali the translator of the book into Russian explained about the book’s rendering into Russian.
