IRCICA Opens Exhibition for Islamic Calligraphy in Kazan

TEHRAN (IQNA) - The Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) opened an exhibition of Islamic calligraphy this month at the Reserve Museum of Kul Sharif Mosque in Kazan Kremlin affiliated to the Ministry of Culture of Tatarstan.

Director of Kazan Kremlin, Zilya Valeeva, and Director General of IRCICA Halit Eren have jointly opened the event.


Valeeva thanked IRCICA for having brought a valuable collection of calligraphic works for display at Kazan Kremlin, and for his part Eren expressed his appreciation to Valeeva and the Musuem’s Curator Nuria Garaeva for their amounts of works towards the event.


The exhibition is comprised of 27 calligraphy plates and they are scheduled to be on display until the end of year.


IRCICA Director General also met with the President of Kazan Federal University Prof. Ilshat Gafurov and the President of Tatarstan Academy of Sciences Prof. Myakzum Salakhov, at their respective offices earlier this month. The main topic of both meetings was the congress on Islamic Archeology to be organized jointly by: Kazan Federal University through its Institute of History and Oriental Studies, Tatarstan Academy of Sciences through its A.H. Halikov Institute of Archeology, and IRCICA.


The congress will be third in IRCICA’s series of congresses on this theme after those of Istanbul (2005) and Islamabad (2011). The third congress will take place in Kazan on 17-18 June 2016.
