TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Massachusetts chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MA) invited Michael Goodman, a conservation commissioner for the town of Easton, Mass., to meet with his Muslim neighbors at the Islamic Center of New England – Sharon.

Goodman recently posted a series of anti-Muslim posts on social media, including calls for direct violence against Muslim civilians.

"We welcome Mr. Goodman to come meet his Muslim neighbors so that he can recognize the common values that unite all people of faith," said CAIR-MA Executive Director Dr. John Robbins. "His statements – which effectively advocate for genocide against an entire group of people because of their faith – are beneath the dignity of an elected official, and we hope that this chance for genuine engagement will allow him to see the truly harmful nature of these views."

Robbins questioned whether an elected official who espoused such views could genuinely fulfill his vows to serve and protect all of his constituents, especially those who identify as Muslim.
