Ramin Haji Igidov told IQNA that Adhan is recited in all mosques in Georgia and there is no ban on it whatsoever.
Last month, Igidov had been quoted by some media outlets as saying that recitation of Adhan is disallowed in the Jummah Mosque in Tbilisi.
He rejected the reports but noted that loudspeakers are not used in recitation of Adhan in the Jummah Mosque.
"This has been the norm at the mosque for years and is nothing new,” he said.
Other than the Jummah Mosque, Adhan recitation on minarets in mosques is common across Georgia, he added.
Igidov also referred to religious freedom in the Caucasian country and said Muslims hold religious rituals on different occasions and Muslim women face no restrictions on wearing the Hijab.
As for the activities of the Georgian Muslims Office, he said the office has published books on Islamic themes in both Georgian and Azeri languages.
He noted that the office has been established with the aim of meeting the need for answering religious questions as well as preserving Islamic places of worship and historical sites, among others.
According to the cleric, currently there are 312 mosques in Georgia some of which are undergoing restoration work.
Georgia is a country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia located at the crossroads of Western Asia and Eastern Europe.
It covers a territory of 69,700 square kilometres and its population is about 3.75 million.
