Prominent cleric Sheikh Mohsen al-Gharifi led the prayers at the mosque, al-Bahrain al-Yawm website reported.

In his sermon, Sheikh al-Gharifi urged the regime to retreat from its decisions against religious scholars in the country.

He also described the sermons at Imam Sadiq (AS) Mosque as the voice of guidance that invites to reform and proximity among people, rejecting accusations that it incites to sedition.

The Manama regime’s security forces prevented worshipers from reaching the Imam Sadiq Mosque for two months.

They have arrested a number of citizens trying to reach the mosque.

The move has been part of the regime’s crackdown on the Shia people and clergy that has intensified in the past few months.

It includes revocation of the citizenship of Sheikh Isa Qassem, Bahrain’s top Shia cleric in June.
