The opening ceremony of the competition was held on Thursday, September 22.
Representatives of more than 50 countries are taking part in the Quranic event, which will run until Monday, September 26.
Mehdi Saed, who is accompanied by Quran Master Abbas Emamjome, is Iran’s representative in the competition.
Born in 1981 in Hamedan, Saed is a Quran reciter who has won several top titles in Iran’s national Quran contests in recent years.
He has also previously represented the country in Indonesia’s international Quran competition.
Russia’s international Holy Quran competition is annually held in Moscow by the Russian Council of Muftis.
Last year, Iran’s Mousa Motamedi came first in the competition’s memorization of the entire Quran category.
