Quranic Booths Planned in Iraq for Arbaeen Pilgrims

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iraq’s Supreme Quran Council plans to set up Quranic booths on the paths of pilgrims marching toward the holy city of Karbala on Arbaeen.

According to Qaaf news agency, Amir al-Kaabi, who heads a committee established by the council to carry out the plan, said Quranic booths will be set up in 12 governorates of the Arab country, including Dha Qar, Baghdad, Najaf, Wasit, Saladin and Karbala.

He said Dar-ol-Quran centers and Quranic institutes of the country will contribute to the plan.

Al-Kaabi added that the booths will host Quranic and religious programs, including Quran and Adhan recitations for ten days leading to Arbaeen.

The supreme Quran council of Iraq has recently been established to promote Quranic activities in the Arab country

Every year, Shia Muslims from Iraq and other countries march to the holy city of Karbala to commemorate Arbaeen (the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), his household and his companions on Ashura).

In the past few years, around 20 million pilgrims from all over the world, including Iran, took part in the the Arbaeen march.

This year, Arbaeen falls on Sunday, November 20.
