OIC Slams Suicide Attack in Berlin, Assassination of Russian Envoy to Turkey

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attack that targeted a market in Berlin, Germany, on Monday, killing at least 12 people and injuring dozens of others.


He The Secretary General described the attack as one of the most heinous and despicable acts committed by senseless criminals.

He expressed the solidarity of the OIC with the government and people of Germany.

He also extended his condolences to the families of the victims over this tragedy, and wished the injured a fast recovery.

He further reiterated the principled position of the OIC that vigorously denounces all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all forms and manifestations.

Al-Othaimeen also denounced in the strongest terms the heinous assassination of Andrey Karlov, the Russian Ambassador to Turkey on Monday, 19 December 2016, the OIC website reported.

He expressed his shock over the senseless act of terror and offered his deepest condolences to the family of the envoy and to the government of Russia.

Pointing to the serious threat posed by terrorism and extremism to international peace and security, he reaffirmed his call for international solidarity in the fight against this twin scourge.
