'Arabic Language and Islamic Unity' Int'l Forum Held in Karbala

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The second edition of an international forum on “Arabic language and Islamic unity” was organized by the Arabic Language and Literature Department of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine in Karbala, Iraq.



According to burathanews website, the Khatam-ul-Anbiya Hall of the holy shrine hosted the program on February 18.

A number of academic figures and intellectuals from Nigeria, India, Iran, Egypt, Palestine, Algeria, Bahrain, Tunisia, Syria, Iraq, Canada, Denmark, and Sweden participated in the forum.

Addressing the program, Hojat-ol-Islam Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Karbalayi, the custodian of the holy shrine, said that the revelation of the Holy Quran in Arabic and the Hadiths of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) enriched the Arabic language and made it universal

Arab literary and eloquent figures also played  a great role in the spread of the language and Arabic culture in the world, he added.

Karbalayi noted that Muslim nations can take this opportunity and use the Arabic language to strengthen Islamic unity.

He urged the participants in the international event to investigate various aspects of the relation between the Arabic language and the Islamic culture and teachings.

Also speaking at the forum, was Latif Al-Qassab, the head of the Arabic language department of the Astan, who said that 18 papers by Iraqi researchers and 12 papers from other countries were selected from among the works submitted to the secretariat of the forum.

Quran recitation by Wail AL-Karbalayi and Tawasheeh performance were among the programs at the forum, which concluded with a speech by Fakhir Al-Yasiri, a scholar of the University of Basra.
