Dubbed Um al-Khayr (mother of goodness), the competition is being held in five categories on memorization of the Holy Quran, al-Sharq daily reported.
As many as 300 students from 65 schools in countries like Qatar, Bahrain and Egypt are attending the Quranic event.
They are competing in three groups of elementary school, guidance school and high school students.
Memorization of five, ten, fifteen, twenty and thirty Juzes (parts) of the Quran along with observation of the rules of Tajweed are some of the categories of the event.
The best mother of a Quran memorizer student will also be selected at the end of the contest.
Winners will be announced and awarded in May, according to the organizers.
