The festival features works in the fields of arts (photos, movies and documentaries), literary (poems, stories and memoirs), and scholarly (papers, research, books).
A number of Iranian and international organizations, including the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) World Assembly, Al-Mustafa International University and Al-al-Bayt (AS) Institute jointly hold the festival.
Those willing to take part in the festival can submit their works in the above-mentioned fields on the theme of Itikaf to the secretariat of the event.

Itikaf, in the Islamic faith, is a particularly commended pious practice consisting of a period of retreat in a mosque, for a certain number of days in accordance with the believer's own wish.
Those taking part in the spiritual ritual sit in mosques and fast and pray the almighty God during the three days of Itikaf.
