TEHRAN (IQNA) – Mojtaba Mohammadbeigi, Iran’s representative at the 8th international Quran competition of Kuwait said he had a good performance at the Quranic event.

Mohammadbeigi went on the stage to showcase his Quranic talents on the first day of the competition Thursday.

He told IQNA that he was asked by the panel of judges to recite verses from Surah Al-e Imran.

"Fortunately, I performed a good recitation,” the Iranian Qari said.

The competition, underway in Kuwait City, will continue until Wednesday.

Every day, six contenders in the category of memorization and six in recitation are asked to showcase their qualities and talents.

Iran has participated in the contest with one reciter and one memorizer.

Davoud Fallahi Meybodi is the Islamic Republic’s representative in the memorization category.

Nearly 80 countries have attended this year’s edition of the Arab country’s international Quranic event.
