TEHRAN (IQNA) – Two educational workshops on calligraphy of the Holy Quran’s verses will be held on the sidelines of the 9th international exhibition of “Arabic Islamic Calligraphy” in Dubai.

Quran Writing Workshops to Be Held in Dubai

According to al-Bayan newspaper, a collection of artworks by more than 50 eminent calligraphers from different parts of the world has been put on display at the exhibition.

"Writing Surah Fatiha in different scripts” and "Writing the Holy Quran’s verses in Warsh” are the titles of the workshops to be respectively held by Mohammad Javadzadeh, an Iranian calligrapher, and Mohammad Safarbati from Algeria.

The exhibition was opened on April 15 at Wafi City, a mix-used development in Dubai, and will continue until April 30.

Calligraphy is arguably the most important art in Muslim societies.

In Western art calligraphy is a minor art form, mostly confined to books and the occasional decorative function. But in Islamic art, the practice of beautiful writing is much more.

Because it grew up alongside the Quran, Islam’s sacred book, calligraphy developed from a central root and flourished broadly, spreading to every branch of artistic expression.
