Ramadan Quran Competition Planned in Uganda

According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the contest will be held in the holy month of Ramadan (June).

Making preparations for the event was discussed in a recent meeting of the director of the radio station and Ali Bakhtiari, the Iranian cultural attaché in the African country.

The director thanked the Iranian official for supporting various religious and Quranic programs of the radio and asked for more cooperation with the center particularly in the holy month of Ramadan.

He said that the number of participants in the competition has doubled this year and expressed hope that more cooperation will result in further rise in the number in the future.

The Iranian official, for his part, appreciated the efforts of the radio in holding Quranic competitions for students and others.

Bakhtiari said that the quality of the radio’s programs, as the only official Islamic media outlet in Uganda, should be improved to meet the needs of the Muslim community.

He added that the center also plans to hold sessions on various Islamic issues, and educational courses on Quran, Hadith, and Islamic ethics in the country.
