Jordanian Quranic Figure Congratulates Iran on Winning Malaysia Int’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A senior Quranic figure from Jordan congratulated the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian nation and government on the success of the country’s representative in Malaysia’s international Quran competition.

Iran’s Hamed Alizadeh won the top rank in the recitation category of Malaysia’s 59th international Quran competition.

The talented Qari was awarded on Saturday at the closing ceremony of the contest, attended by senior officials including Malaysia’s king.

In a message, Jordanian Quranic figure Samih Ahmed Khalid Othamina, who also served as a member of the competition’s panel of judges, offered his congratulations to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the nation and government of Iran over the Iranian Qari’s accomplishment.

Alizadeh managed to win the top prize scoring 89.96 out of 100.

Hussein Tahir Shakir from Iraq was the runner-up in this category while Malaysia’s representative Wan Fakh al-Razi bin Wan Muhammad came third.

A total of 91 Quran reciters and memorizers from 49 countries attended the six-day international Quranic event, whose motto was "Islamic Brotherhood Based on Unity of Islamic Ummah”.

The international Quran contest is annually organized by the Malaysia government with the aim of promoting the culture of Quran recitation and fostering the teachings of the Holy Book.
