According to al-Ray newspaper, a Jordanian Quranic association named the Association for Safeguarding the Quran distributed the copies on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

Hassan Assaf, an official with the association, said the move was aimed at promoting the Quranic culture and developing Quranic education in the Arab country.

It will also help those who want to learn the Quran by heart, he added.

Assaf went on to say that the association seeks to foster the true teachings of the Quran and thus prevent the spread of ideas and concepts that lead to discord, disunity and extremism.

The Association for Safeguarding the Quran has 14 branches and 900 Quran education centers in Jordan.

So far, more than 5,000 memorizers of the Quran have graduated from the centers in the capital, Amman, and elsewhere in the country.

Among other activities of the association is printing braille copies of the Quran and distributing them among the visually-impaired.

Jordan is an Arab country in the Middle East. More than 99 percent of the country’s population is Muslim.
