According to youm7, the Union of Egyptian Journalists announced that the Committee for Promotion of Human Resources will organize the Quranic event on the 22nd day of the holy month (June 17).
The categories of the competition include memorization of the entire Quran and memorization of 15, 10 and 5 Juzes (parts) of Quran with observation of Tajweed principles and Islamic teachings.
Those who win the top ranks in the first to the third categories will be awarded cash prizes.
During Ramadan, the ninth month in the Islamic Hijri calendar, Muslims all over the world fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset.
They also devote a considerable amount of time during this month to reading and contemplating the Quran.
This year, Ramadan began on Saturday, May 27.
