Electronic Quran of Muscat to Be Unveiled

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An electronic copy of the Holy Quran will be unveiled in Muscat, Oman, on June 12 by the Arab country’s Ministry of Awqaf (endowments) and Religious Affairs.

According to Al-Watan newspaper, the unveiling ceremony will be held at the Supreme Court of Oman under the supervision of Seyyed Heitham ibn Tariq Ale Sa’eed, the country’s Minister of Heritage and Culture.

A number of eminent figures from Arab and Muslim countries including Al-Azhar’s deputy, secretary general of Al-Azhar’s Association of Islamic Studies and head of the educational institutes of Al-Azhar, will be present at the event.

Salim ibn Hilal Al-Kharusi, advisor to the Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs of Oman, referred to the upcoming unveiling ceremony and said that the Holy Quran has always been respected by Muslims and the Divine Book is the constitution of the Muslim Ummah.

He highlighted the efforts made in writing Quran in Oman and said that the ministry has paid special attention to Quranic activities since it was established in 1997 and published Mushaf of Oman, calligraphed by a Turkish calligrapher, in 2006.

He added that the electronic Quran copy written in Othmani script, will be useful in teaching Quran and facilitate research in Quranic fields.
