Addressing the opening ceremony of a joint cultural festival in Kuala Lumpur, Marziyeh Afkham said there are many capacities for further enhancing the cooperation.

The "Culture and Arts: Islamic Calligraphy Works by Iranian and Malaysian Calligraphers” event has been organized at Malaysia Islamic Arts Museum in cooperation with Iran’s Cultural Center in Kuala Lumpur.

Afkham further described calligraphy as an important Islamic art endorsed by the holy Prophet (PBUH).

She expressed hope that the Quranic calligraphy event in Kuala Lumpur would help promote the art and also develop cooperation between Iran and Malaysia in Quranic fields.

She concluded by urging everyone to pray for spread of peace and friendship in the world, especially in the Muslim world.

The festival includes an exhibition of calligraphy works as well as workshops and lectures on different aspects of Islamic and Iranian calligraphy.

Mohammad Ali Qorbani, Ali Tavousi, Sohrab Marzban and Hojat Ranjbar are among the Iranian artists whose works are on display at the 9-day cultural event.
