TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s representative in Algeria’s international Quran competition won the fifth rank in the contest.

Mohammad Ali Eslami competed in the category of memorization of the entire Quran.

The closing ceremony of the contest was held Wednesday night at Al-Kabir Mosque in Algiers.

A number of high-ranking Algerian officials were present at the ceremony.

The panel of judges announced representative of Bangladesh as the top rank winner of the contest.

The runner-up was from Jordan and those from Libya, Syria and Iran came third to fifth respectively.

The three top winners received cash prizes ranging from 500,000 to one million Algerian Dinars.

The 14th edition of Algeria international Quran competition began on the 22nd day of Ramadan (June 17) in Algiers.

Representatives of 53 countries competed in the international Quranic event.

It was held in the categories of Quran memorization, Tajweed recitation and Quran interpretation.
