The city’s Quds Mosque hosted the Quran recitation session earlier this week.

Iranian Qari and Quran teacher Hoajt-ol-Islam Seyyed Mohammad Javad Mousavi Dorchei and Quran memorizer Musa Motamedi were among the Quran activists present at the event.

Other Qaris included Sheikh Mamduh Amer and Sheikh Khalid Rabei from Egypt, Sheikh Muhammad Hakim from Syria, and Sheikh Muhammad Filander and Sheikh Mahmud Khatib from South Africa.

The two Iranians have travelled to the African country for Quranic programs in the holy month of Ramadan.

Every year during Ramadan, Quran reciters, memorizers and Tawasheeh (religious songs) groups are sent from Iran to different countries to hold Quranic and religious programs for Muslim worshippers.

During Ramadan, the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calendar, Muslims fast as an effective way of practicing self-discipline. They are also expected to strengthen their character through self-restraint, charitable-giving and introspection.

Reading and contemplating the Holy Quran is also a major activity for Muslims during the holy month.
