Iraqi Qari Highlights Status of Martyred Iranian Reciter
Speaking to IQNA, Mousawi, said the objective and mission of both a Qari and a martyr is conveying the essence of divine teachings to others and Martyr Hajihassani Kargar fulfilled this mission.
The Iraqi Quranic figure noted that he first met Hajihassani Kargar in 2014 when they held Quranic programs together at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS).
Hajihassani Kargar was a member of Iran’s Quranic delegation to Hajj who was among those martyred in a crush of pilgrims two years ago.
On September 24, 2015, thousands of people lost their lives in the crush after Saudi authorities blocked a road in Mina during a ritual, forcing large crowds of pilgrims to collide.
The crush was the deadliest incident in the history of the pilgrimage. Saudi Arabia claims nearly 770 people were killed in the incident, but officials at Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization say about 7,000 people, including over 460 Iranian pilgrims, lost their lives.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Mousawi referred to his Quranic activities, saying he started learning Quran at a young age in the holy city of Qom.
He said he has recited the Quran in the holy shrines of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA) in Qom, Abdul Azim Hassani (AS) in Rey, and Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad before leaving Iran for the holy city of Karbala, Iraq.
There, he passed intensive selection processes to become an official Qari of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS), Mousawi noted.
He added that he has performed more than 200 Quran recitations at there as well as the holy shrine of Hazrat Abbas (AS) and elsewhere in Karbala.
Mousawi also said he has been interested in Quran recitations by Egyptian masters like Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, Minshawi, and Mutawalli Abdulal, but has followed the recitation style of Master Shahat Muhammad Anwar in the past 30 years.
