TEHRAN (IQNA) – Director of the Quran Museum in the holy city of Medina, Saudi Arabia, said more than two million people have visited the museum in the past two years.

Hamza Musa Adam said a large number of handwritten Quran copies, including 57 rare Quran manuscripts, are on display at the museum.

He said the oldest copy is a manuscript dating back to the year 488 Hijri (1095 AD), Anadolu Agency reported.

Another rare item on display is a large copy of the Quran weighing 154 kilograms that dates back to two centuries ago, he said.

Adam noted that visitors receive information in 13 languages about the items.

He said that since its establishment in September 2015, over two million people have visited the museum.

The number is expected to rise significantly during the Hajj season this year, he went on to say.
