Hojat-ol-Islam Saeed Karami, with the Center for Mosques Affairs, told IQNA that a number of political and religious officials will attend the event.

He said it aimed at discussing plans for better running the affairs of mosques in the province.

August 21 marks the anniversary of the 1969 al-Aqsa Mosque fire set by the Zionists.

The day has been named at Iran’s suggestion by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as the World Mosque Day in remembrance of the event.

Hojat-ol-Islam Karami deplored lack of attention by some Muslim countries to the occasion and the issue of Quds and al-Aqsa Mosque.
