World Mosque Day Marked in Nasir ol Molk Mosque

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A ceremony was held at the Nasir ol Molk Mosque in Shiraz to mark the World Mosque Day.

The Nasir-ol-Molk Mosque, also known as the Pink Mosque, is a Qajar-era mosque in Shiraz, south of Iran.

The mosque includes extensive colored glass in its façade and displays other traditional elements.

When sunlight shines through the colorful glasses, it presents as exemplary beauty to the interior of the bedchamber, making this mosque outstandingly aesthetical. The tiling and paintings of the bedchambers are of exceptional beauty as well.

August 21 was named as World Mosque Day on the proposal of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the approval of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

This day reminds August 21, 1969, on which the Zionist regime of Israel set fire to Al-Aqsa Mosque and inflicted irreparable damage on it.
