TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Bangladeshi academic official underlined his country’s opposition to the US president’s move to declare Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of the Zionist regime.

Speaking to IQNA, Professor Muhammad Mishkatuddin, deputy chancellor of the Eastern University in Dhaka, said no one can accept the “unfair decision”.

He said the majority of his fellow countrymen consider the decision as unacceptable because it is “really unjust”.

Professor Mishkatuddin also underlined the need for Muslims worldwide to unite against the move.

He further called for dialogue among Muslim countries to enhance ties among Muslim nations and find solutions for the Muslim world’s problems.

Trump officially declared the disputed city Israel’s capital, despite warnings from around the world that the measure risks triggering a fresh wave of violence in the Middle East.

In a speech at the White House on December 6, Trump said his administration would also begin a years-long process of moving the American embassy in Tel Aviv to the holy city.

Palestinian leaders had previously warned the move would threaten a two-state solution.

On December 21, More than 100 countries defied Trump and voted in favor of a United Nations General Assembly resolution calling for the United States to withdraw its decision.

Israel has occupied East Quds since the 1967 Middle East war. It annexed the area in 1980 and sees it as its exclusive domain. Under international law, the area is considered to be occupied territory.
