TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Egyptian scholar teaching at the University of Cambridge said deep understanding of Islam and the Holy Quran will help humanity found a civilization based on values.

Speaking at the 2018 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Moez Masoud added that it would also contribute to efforts aimed at countering deviated concepts, al-Yawm al-Sabi reported.

He said the Holy Quran invites humankind to discover the truth and calls for coexistence and cooperation among people.

Masoud regretted the existence of widespread conflicts and clashes in the world and referred to the teachings of the Quran as guidance for resolving them.

Masoud is a scholar, public intellectual and international producer who focuses on the fields of existential questions, challenges to global co-existence, and identity in the modern world.

In November 2011, he was described by The Economist as one of the world's five most influential public presenters of the Islamic tradition.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought and a research affiliate with the Psychology and Religion Research Group at the University of Cambridge, from where he holds an MPhil degree, and is currently pursuing a PhD there in the philosophy of science.

The World Economic Forum is annually held in the Swiss city. Top political and economic figures and scholars from around the world attend the meeting to discuss global politics, economics, and social issues.
