At the event, which was hosted by the Islamic Development Organization, 42 Quranic figures, including Qaris, memorizers, Quran masters, winners of international Quranic events, and Quran teachers, interpreters and translators, were honored for their accomplishments and services to the Holy Book.
It began with playing the country’s national anthem, followed by recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by renowned Qari Hamed Alizadeh.
Next, Mehdi Qarasheikhlu, head of the Dar-ol-Quran Kareem Organization, the organizer of the program, delivered a speech elaborating on the selection of the Quranic figures.
He noted that for the first time, three new groups of Quran activists, namely Quranic calligraphers, publishers and charity activists, are among those honored at the congress this year.
Also speaking was Hojat-ol-Islam Khamoushi, head of the Islamic Development Organization, who congratulated the participants on the 39th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory and hailed the growing trend of Quranic activities in the country since the victory of the revolution.
He also called on Quran masters and teachers to put it high on their agenda to promote the Quranic style of life.
Elsewhere during the program, late Quran masters Seyed Mehdi Fatemian, Master Hassan Chaychian, and Master Forqani were commemorated.
Last year, 39 Quranic figures from different parts of the country were honored at the 11th edition of the congress in Tehran.
