TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran competition was held in Libya’s city of Tobruk for girl students.

According to al-Wasat website, the city’s Fatima al-Zahra Quranic education center organized the contest on Quran memorization and Tajweed recitation of the Holy Book earlier this week.

Girls studying at elementary, guidance and high school levels took part in the Quranic event.

A number of the center’s Quran teachers and experts assesses the contenders’ performances and selected the tope ones.

The winners of the first to third ranks in the two categories were awarded at the end of the competition.

The Fatima al-Zahra Quranic education center is an active center in Tobruk in teaching Quran memorization to women and girls.

Tobruk is a port city on Libya’s eastern Mediterranean coast, near the border of Egypt.

It is the capital of the Butnan District (formerly Tobruk District) and has a population of about 120,000.
