TEHRAN (IQNA) – Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said that a number of Saudi officials have urged the Syrian government to end its relations with the Islamic Republic.

Speaking to Lebanese al-Akhbar daily, he said that the Saudi officials have made a proposal to Damascus during a recent meeting with Syrian officials in an undisclosed location.

He said they proposed that in exchange for an end to Syria’s ties with Iran and the resistance movement, Riyadh will stop supporting terrorist groups in Syria and help the country in its reconstruction with billions of dollars.

Such an offer had also been made during King Abdullah’s reign, Nasrallah noted, saying it shows that the Saudis’ major policy of targeting resistance has not changed.

Iran and Hezbollah have remained a close ally of the Damascus government since the start of the 2011 civil war in Syria.

He also referred to the US and Saudi attempts to undermine Hezbollah, saying despite such attempts, the resistance group is stronger than before.

Given Hezbollah’s major role against terrorists in Syria and Iraq, Washington now believes that the resistance group is a threat for the US all over the region, he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Nasrallah referred to Yemen’s victories over the Saudi-led coalition, saying that despite the massive Saudi-US aggression, the Yemenis’ have had major achievements, including the recent launch of 7 missiles targeting Riyadh.

On Sunday, Yemeni forces fired seven ballistic missiles into Saudi Arabia in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians by the Saudi-led coalition.

All of the missiles hit their targets and Saudi Patriot missiles failed to intercept them.

It came ahead of Monday that marked the third anniversary of the start of the Riyadh-led war on the Arabian Peninsula country.
