TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 35th edition of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s International Quran Competition will be held later this month, an official said.

Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi, Head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, told IQNA that representatives of 83 countries have announced their readiness to participate in the contest.

He added that four other international Quranic events will also be organized simultaneously.

They include the international Quran competition for seminary students, the cleric noted.

The other three, he said, are the competitions for women, school students and the visually-impaired.

According to the official, a total of 300 foreign Quran activists will attend the international Quranic events.

Referring to other plans of the organization for the new Iranian calendar year (started on March 21), Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi said it will also hold a Quran studies conference whose main theme is fighting arrogance in view of the Quran and the Seerah of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).

He further pointed to the national Quran memorization plan and said more than 2 million individuals have so far registered in Quran memorization programs held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.
